Photo of the Day #5

The toy is from a Kinder Surprise egg that I bought in New Zealand. I chanced upon some in the grocery and exclaimed to Marc that I've never had one before. He shakes his head in pity that my sad 3rd world childhood didn't include Kinder eggs.

But then again, it's never too late to have a happy childhood.

Getting ready for moving day. I've decided to donate some of my film books to the MassComm library. Is 15 books enough to open my own wing?

Photo of the Day #3 aka Fuck Emo

I shall leave the person unnamed, but if you know her, it's easy enough to guess. Taken at Genie and Regan's party.

Photo of the Day #2

This was only supposed to be a test shot but ended up being kind of decent. So here it is.

It's a scarf that I'm knitting from yarn that I got in NZ. I'm worried though I'll run out of it before I finish.

Photo of the Day #1

I read in today's Inquirer a project on flickr where you upload a photo a day. It seems like an interesting exercise in discipline. Since Marc has given up blogging everyday, I thought I'd take up some of the slack and try posting a picture every day.

While I did activate my account on flickr, I'm a tad bit hesitant to post my work there (for now). We'll see how it goes first.

By the way, it's best not to expect wonderful shots here. I predict a great majority of them will be work related. Like the first one!

I have a feeling this is going to go the same way as my written journals.

ligaw

I'm relieving for the usual entertainment writer today and I came a cross a local celeb story on abs-cbnNEWS.com on Roxanne Guinoo.

I have no idea who she is but she's in a soap called "Ligaw na Bulaklak", and the article had a short summary tacked at the end.
"Ligaw" update

After being put in a girlstown, Leya (Guinoo) finally found her freedom. She’s bound to know that her family had fallen apart. This revelation motivates her to trace back her past. Along the way, she again meets Mon (Isko Moreno). She resides in Mon’s house and meets Mon’s adopted son, Francis (Mark Abaya) who will play a big part in Leya’s struggle.

In the upcoming episodes, Janet’s role (Ara Mina) will soon be discovered. Will this spark a new love story? Will Leya find her family?

It's like something you'd find on Korean stationery.

I just realized what bugged me the most about it. It's the tense! Future, past and present...all in a paragraph!

Oh! My cousin's wedding site is up and of course, it's gorgeous. We received her invitation in the mail last week and it's such a shame that we can't go.

Her Save the Date card is so clever and cute. Carlene should consider going into wedding planning as a career. Or at least an invitation designer (or is she already?).

Anyhoo...my co-worker Faiqah turned over her little iPod shuffle to me because the person who filled it with songs does not know the meaning of "work-out music." Eraserheads, Bob Marley, Barbie Almabis (!!!), and Stone Temple Pilots are all worthy musicians (with the exception of you-know-who) but they don't really get the heart rate pumping (or the booty shaking).

I'm no expert in dance music either, but thanks to Hype Machine, I've been downloading some really good stuff. My plan was to search for 'remix' and just download anything that looked okay. Some of the songs I found were actually pretty good.

Black Kids - Hurricane Jane (The Twelves remix) here.

The Energies - Born Again Runner (Lifelike remix) here.

Chromeo - Waiting 4 U here

(all of the above links have other really nice stuff too.)

Adios, New Zealand

So I'm back in Manila and it's like I never left. Work is unremarkably the same.

New Zealand was beautiful, even though it was sometimes a little too quiet and peaceful for my taste. But who knows, I could get used to it eventually.

Strange thing about Christchurch (and Kiwis in general), is that there's a strange lack of smell. Maybe my daily Manila commute clogged my nose with pollution, but the city just didn't emit any sort of smell.

It was most disturbing standing at the edge of the ocean and smelling nothing. Weird.

Not that I'm complaining though...

Oh look, pictures!

Note the scarf I'm wearing is the one I knitted myself.

Taken at Lyttleton's hillside cemetery. Marc thought having a cemetery there was a waste of a good view. I disagree.

Watching "Black Sheep" did not deter me from getting close to this cutie.

These monks were figuring out the (highly effective) bus system. Since the temperature was at single digits that week, they were decked out in fleece jackets that matched their robes.

Obviously views from the hot air balloon.
